The environmentally-concerned organisation, Green Globe, recently announced the recertification of the Divi Southwinds Beach Resort in Barbados. The resort, located in the south coast of the Caribbean island, is one of the highest-quality, eco-friendly Barbados hotels in the region.

Divi Southwinds is situated on Dover Beach, along the St. Lawrence Gap, an animated zone famous for its fine dining, dynamic nightlife and open-air shopping. It is also at a four miles distance from the capital city of Bridgetown. The new modifications make the resort not only a wonderful place to relax, but a top-of-the-line destination for tourists who are concerned about the environment.

The resort has put in many efforts to take care of the environment and motivate more eco-friendly travellers to spend their Barbados holidays in Divi Souhtwinds. Divi Resorts has also implemented a variety of sustainability programmes and initiatives across all its Caribbean properties, such as increasing recycling, installing low-flow toilets and showerheads and decreasing chlorine usage in pools by 50 per cent.

They have just developed new purchasing policies and a new comprehensive Sustainability Management Plan that clearly demonstrates the propertys commitment.

Among Divi Southwinds Beach Resorts many green practices are the use of energy-saving light bulbs and environmentally-friendly cleaning products. Furthermore, its staff encourages guests to reuse towels and bed sheets to lessen the high amount of energy used in machine washing and water waste. Also, drinks in their open-air bar and restaurant are only served in reusable plastic cups.
